SPIRITUAL
GIFTS FOR LEADERS OF CHILDREN'S SABBATH SCHOOLS
Passion for children:
You enjoy working with and for children
Mentoring:
You will be mentoring children as they grow in a relationship with
Jesus. You are also in the position to mentor the teachers
and
parents: there are times when we can lead the parents to Jesus through
the children.
Growing relationship with God:
Ensure your own relationship with God is growing. Encourage
both
children and volunteers to have a personal prayer life and pray for
each other.
Well organised:
You need to be well organised and have everything you need ready ahead of time so that on Sabbath morning
everything runs smoothly and you keep the children’s attention.
Understanding: Taking the time and effort to
learn about child development and learning styles will make you a more
effective teacher
Teaching:
To be able to communicate to the children that Jesus loves them, on
their level, in a way that they understand, knowing that with children
you need an extra dose of patience.
Helping &
Serving:
Giving of your own time. When the children are older you
should
help to encourage and provide them with the opportunity to serve in the church,
home and the community. E.g. visit a nursing home to sing or
pass
out small gifts, scripture readings or special music in church,
encouraging them to help at home etc.
