Year 2 Quarter 2:

Craft: Fridge
magnets
- Each week the children two or three more magnets which can be used to tell the Bible story.
I loan the kids a "magnet book" to keep their magnets in
until it
is time to take them home. You could also use magnetic
whiteboards or paint a pinboard with magnetic paint, or keep the
magnets in an envalope or send them home each week.
These are the magnet books that I made. The first ones I made
had three pictures; they took a long time to make and I would
not
recommend it unless you have a lot of time and patience. The
second lot I made had two pictures and the whole process was a
lot
quicker and easier. I
bought 20 x 20cm gal squares from a local sheet metal company and
painted the scenes. These were then glued into a rectangle of
drill-fabric with the corners sewn to make a border and
handles
sewn on the sides.
Each week I give each teacher a plastic folder which
contains the "program list" for the day and all the supplies that the
kids at that table will need. Each table
also has a small box containing magnets, scissors, glue,
scrapbooking tape and
normal tape etc in case they need them.
Inkjet printable A4 magnets available from Spotlight, Big W or
Office Works.
Printable A4 cardboard - 190gsm. I buy it from
either Big W or Office Works. Note: I get 190gsm because I
found heavier gsm card is more likely to jam in the printer.
Clear A4 printable labels, make sure they are
suitable for your colour printer. I use Avery L7567 stickers from
Office Works.
Sticky-backed magnet. You can buy it on the role
from Overflow or make your own by adding scrapbooking tape.
Paddlepop sticks
Fabric scraps
Textas or felt-tip pens
A guillotine or paper cutter
